Raised in a spiritually inclined and musically devoted family, Harmeet’s journey into the world of rhythm began at an exceptionally young age. His father, S. Chand Singh, a devoted Kirtankar, played a pivotal role in nurturing his early musical instincts. Under his father’s loving guidance, Harmeet was introduced to rhythm, devotion, and the sacred discipline of Indian classical music. Early Taleem and Guru-Shishya Parampara At the tender age of five, Harmeet Singh began his formal taleem in tabla under the esteemed Punjab Gharana maestro Ustad Kulwinder Singh Ji, a senior disciple of the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha Khan. This marked the beginning of a rigorous and deeply traditional Guru-Shishya journey. Under Ustad Kulwinder Singh Ji’s mentorship, Harmeet absorbed the foundational grammar of the Punjab Gharana — clarity of bols, strength of bayan, intricate layakari, and aesthetic presentation. Recognizing his dedication and potential, Ustad Kulwinder Singh Ji later guided him towards advanced training under the globally celebrated tabla exponent Ustad Fazal Qureshi, son and disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha Khan Sahib. Harmeet Singh also received invaluable blessings, guidance, and inspiration from the legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain, whose towering presence in the global music fraternity continues to inspire millions. The blessings of such maestros have deeply shaped Harmeet’s musical identity, aesthetics, and spiritual approach toward rhythm. For the past nine years, Harmeet has been undergoing advanced training under Ustad Fazal Qureshi Ji at the prestigious Ustad Alla Rakha Institute of Music, Dadar, Mumbai.
