Saptak is a versatile pianist, keyboardist, and harmonium player born into a distinguished family of musicians rooted in the Agra and Etawah Gharanas. He began his musical training at an early age under his father, renowned sitarist, composer, and musician Amzad Hossain, a disciple of Pt. D. T. Joshi and Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahib. His musical development has also been deeply nurtured by his mother, acclaimed Hindustani classical vocalist Smt. Manali Bose. Alongside his training in Indian Classical Music, Saptak has pursued Western Classical Music under Chinese pianist and pedagogue Pak-yu Kwok Alex. His dedication to both traditions has shaped a versatile musical outlook, allowing him to explore their distinctive techniques and expressive possibilities. As an Indian Classical pianist, Saptak has developed a profound command of *Piano Baaj*, an innovative concept pioneered by his father. His approach integrates Western harmonic progressions with the intricate melodic framework of Hindustani ragas while preserving their identity and aesthetic integrity. A defining feature of his style is the expressive, technically active use of the left hand, accorded equal musical importance alongside the right. Through this synthesis, he continues to explore new possibilities for Indian Classical Music on the piano. Saptak is also an accomplished harmonium soloist and accompanist, equally at ease with Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, and Ghazal. His engagement with classical and semi-classical traditions reflects his versatility and sensitivity to diverse musical forms. Through his work across piano and harmonium, Saptak seeks to expand the expressive horizons of his instruments while remaining firmly rooted in his musical heritage. His artistic journey embodies a commitment to tradition, innovation, and cross-cultural musical exploration.
